Whether you are storing your firearms between hunting seasons or need to store them longer, there’s always the worry in the back of your mind that they’ve been properly cared for. There’s nothing worse than pulling your gun out and finding it in less than stellar condition than how you left it – regardless of whether it’s your favorite hunting rifle or that family heirloom passed down from generation to generation. Put your mind at ease and ensure you’re taking the right steps to care for them properly.

So how do you go about storing your firearms? We’ve made it easy for you with the Rust Stopper™ Long Term Storage Kit.

Here’s how you prep your firearm for long term storage:

1. Make sure firearm is unloaded.
2. Clean bore with MC-7, using cleaning gear of choice and follow instructions on included bottle.
3. Lubricate inner & outer workings of firearm using FP-10® and follow instructions on included bottle.

4. Wipe down exterior with microfiber towel, removing any excess lube, contaminants and fingerprints.

5. Apply Rust Prevent by following the instructions on the bottle. Allow to dry for five minutes, do not wipe off and repeat application.

6. Place chamber flag in empty chamber if desired.

7. Place firearm in Rust Stopper™ rust prevention bag being sure to follow instructions on bag.

Ready to pull your gun out of storage? Follow these steps for success:

We mention the term VCI… what does that mean?

VCI stands for Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor. Essentially, it is a protective barrier that gives you anti-corrosion protection. Rust inhibiting vapors are emitted into an enclosed air space to prevent corrosion on metal surfaces. We partnered with ARMOR on this project as they are the experts on VCI Nanotechnology™.
